Principal’s Latest Message

Dear ËIJ»ÏñÐþ»ú Community,

I hope this message finds each of you in good spirits. It is with great privilege that I extend a warm welcome to the 2024 school year.

Understanding that success will look different for each of our students, my commitment is to fostering a culture of high expectations, rooted in our school values in the collective pursuit of excellence.

I commenced my career in education in 2003, with experiences ranging from international engagements in Japan to leadership roles within educational institutions. Contributions to the Department of Education and Training’s initiatives and educational leadership courses at Harvard University have further enriched my professional path.

I’ve been honoured with recognitions such as the Lindsay Thompson Award for Educational Excellence (team award), Victorian Educational Excellence for Outstanding School Achievement (team award) and the VCAA VCAL (now Vocational Major) Achievement Award, twice. In my recent five-year tenure as a principal, my previous school was recognised in The Age ‘Schools That Excel’ awards in 2020. Each of these acknowledgements reflect the closeness of working collaboratively and are a testament to how improved outcomes for students are capable when the school learning community works closely together.

Education, for me, holds the transformative power to change lives and reshape individual narratives. I am truly excited about contributing to the collective growth and success of ËIJ»ÏñÐþ»ú with our dedicated team of staff already at our school and more broadly within our community.

For those interested, I invite you to join me during the initial weeks of term where you will find me at the main entrances of either campus, starting at Banksia on Tuesday 30th Jan and Wednesday 31st Jan, followed by the Acacia campus on Thursday 1st Feb and Friday 2nd Feb, from around 8:20 am. I look forward to having a chat or simply saying hi.

In the coming weeks, you can expect a more comprehensive communication, providing detailed insights into our shared vision and goals for the academic year.

Finally, I want to give a heartfelt thank you to those who have already extended a warm welcome, particularly our outgoing principal, Mr. John Baston. Your support is deeply appreciated.

Carpe Diem!

Aaron Sykes
College Principal
